This Memorial Museum was established in April, 2002, aiming to mold a culture of disaster awareness, enhance local capacity for disaster management, support the development of disaster management policies, and contribute to creating a well-managed society for disaster with civil collaboration, by passing the experience of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake occurred in Jan.,1995 down from generation to generation and utilizing the lessons learned for the future.
